What You Need to Know About the N1 Claim Form

No-nonsense, straight-talking debt collection service

If you want to make a claim against a person or organisation, you can use an N1 claim form. This includes settling disputes when it comes to being owed money. If someone, either a business or individual, owes you money, you can make a claim for that money. This could be because they’ve not paid an invoice, not paid a loan that you’ve given them by a pre-agreed date or they’ve not paid for services that you’ve already provided.

A lot of people choose to make the claim online, but the N1 claim form enables you to claim by post. So, how does it work?

How Does the N1 Claim Form Work?

To use the N1 claim form, you need to download the form online, fill it in and send it via post. This is an option unless you don’t know how much money you’re claiming for, your claim is for more than £25,000 and you want help paying the court fee, or your claim is for £100,000 or more. You’ll need to provide information about the claim, such as your name and address, the name and address of who you’re making the claim against, details of the claim and its value, and information about witnesses, if there are any.

You’ll then need to send the form to the Civil National Business Centre, enclosing a cheque or postal order for the court fee. If you’re unable to claim online, the N1 claim form provides an alternative option.

Alternatives Options to Using the N1 Claim Form

If you don’t want to use the N1 claim form, you can make a claim online via the Money Claim Online service. This is an alternative option to the N1 claim form, and it enables you to do everything online, using HM Courts and Tribunals Service easy-to-use service. You can use Money Claim Online (MCOL) if you’re over 18 and you’re claiming for less than £100,000, and if the claim is only against one or two defendants.

You can also enlist the help of a debt recovery agency, and this tends to be one of the most common approaches to debt recovery. Though the MCOL service and using the N1 claim form is relatively straightforward, it can be time consuming, especially once you add court delays into the mix. There’s also no guarantee of success – especially if the other party is determined to defend themselves, denying any money is owed – and many people make a MCOL, only to be disappointed with the outcome. But, with a debt collection agency, a team of experts handles everything.

At Cobra Financial, we have the time, tools and techniques to successfully recover funds that are rightfully yours. Whether you’re owed money by an individual or business, we have the expertise needed to handle your claim, without having to use an N1 claim form or MCOL.
